hanryanya : the gathering of the six stars is part of destiny, the fallen
dark star, it will join ashura-ou's child and the traitor yasha-ou! then,
as the prophecy states, taishaku-ten's reign over tenkai will be ended.
zouchouten *commander of the south* : what stars, never heard of them, but
yasha-ou was bishamonten's subordinate, why do we end up doing his work?
koumokuten *commander of the west* : you can't even handle a little ashura
bastard and the traitor yasha-ou, bishamonten is so uselss!
bishamonten : zonchouten, koumokuten, control yourselves before tentei!
taishaku-ten : it's alright! bishamonten. I won't let them get away easily

(the soldiers fall and die, what attacked them appears to be a small

pull it out! (sounds like the sword in the stone?)

(jump into the water)

ryu-ou : [it's kinda deep! (all these strange creatures swimming around)
the key to the ocean gate-- the seal of all the water demons, ryuga-tou.
the coronation of the dragon clan is to draw out this sword, and reaffirm
the seal on the gate. (sees a light ahead) there is it!!]

(swim closer, there's a big whole being capped in the bottom of the lake.)

ryu-ou : [this is the gate!? ryuga-tou...... the proof of the ryu-ou! if I
pull it out, (hands on the sword) then I'm ryu-ou, king of the
waters......]
seiryuu (flashback) : [you'll make a very good king!]
yasha-ou (flashback) : [we're going to defeat taishaku-ten!]
ashura (flashback) : [naga... are you strong?]
ryu-ou : let me try this! (pull) I want... to be stronger! (sword comes
loose) MUCH, MUCH STRONGER!

(electrifying energy... he pulls out the sword)

ryu-ou : it's out! (look at this huge sword) this is...... ryuga-tou......

(the people on the land above just see the water explode and something
shoots out)

hyakuryuu : naga!? !

(ryu jumps out of the water and flies away, hyakuryuu goes after him)

hyakuryuu : I'm not letting you get away, naga! where are you going? naga!!
ryu-ou : hyakuryuu!? there are many people stronger than me in tenkai, so I
want to become stronger!! when I am strong enough to be the ryu-ou, I will

(somewhere, the sword is currently sealed in this jelly thingy... there's a
face on the sword's handle. the face of a woman, and she is sleeping right
now. a man standing next to the sword.)

kumaraten : come! ashura-ou's son. (sinister smile) kusumabura will be your
grave! to defeat taishaku-ten, rebuild my clan, I must get my hands on
shura-tou. therefore, I must have your life!

(meanwhile, yasha is leading ashura and ryu-ou further west)

ryu-ou : where are you going, yasha-ou! if you're going after taishaku-ten,
it's the other way! why are you heading into the forest?
yasha-ou : I must go to kusumabura first!
ryu-ou : huh--!! that dead land?
ashura : ryu-kun, I'm hungry! (ryu-ou sweatdrop)
ryu-ou (beat up on ashura) : didn't you just eat?

(ashura laughing, running away from ryu-ou who's kinda pissed off, and
yasha sees a shadow in the trees above)

yasha-ou : ... is that you, souma?
souma (jump down) : you saw me, yasha-ou.
ryu-ou (jump back) : who's this!?
souma (smile) : I'm souma, ryu-ou.
ryu-ou (confused) : how did you know I became king? ?? I left immediately
after the ceremony, and didn't tell anyone, how did you know?
souma : I'm here to help yasha-ou. I was ordered to protect prince ashura.
of course I would know about you.
ryu-ou : [prince?] how does this little pig look like a prince?
ashura : I'm not a little pig!! (yell back)
ryu-ou (voice getting louder) : why not? the only thing you know how to say

souma (entertained) : life is getting more interesting! (smile)
yasha-ou : I told you to return, but you wouldn't listen. betraying
taishaku-ten will only lead to death. if ryu-ou is with us, then the dragon
clan will be charged with treason...... (souma chuckles) what?
souma : you're very kind! very different than the demon lord yasha-ou, who
frightens even the ma-zoku, from legends......
arrow (point to yasha) : a little shocked at something he's not use to.
yasha-ou : souma.
arrow : don't know how to answer.
yasha-ou : there's a city near the west called kusumabaru.
arrow : change of subject first.
yasha-ou : do you know about it?
arrow : really getting uncomfortable.
souma (surprised) : the city of the underground ruler, kumaraten! in the
past under the rule of kuramaten, with rich underground resources, millions
of people lived in the blossoming capital, kusumabura. the ever-spring
underground city was destroyed three hundred years ago in the holy war. I
heard it's only a ruin now buried in the forest......

(wait a second... I just want to ask something... anyone think this story
is like a RPG? I think so... actually... really like an rpg...)

souma : kujaku? can we trust him?
ashura (pulling on yasha's shirt) : yasha! ryu-kun is picking on me!
yasha-ou (pat his head) : I don't know! but shura-tou is the key to
defeating taishaku-ten and finding the six stars, and we have no other
clues...... this is worth trying.
souma : I understand! (point) in the rocky mountains ahead, there should be
a passage leading to kusumabura. when everyone has entered, I will guard
the outside...(shock) where did you hear that?
yasha-ou : kujaku.
souma : kujaku? can we trust him?
ashura (pulling on yasha's shirt) : yasha! ryu-kun is picking on me!
yasha-ou (pat his head) : I don't know! but shura-tou is the key to
defeating taishaku-ten and finding the six stars, and we have no other
clues...... this is worth trying.
souma : I understand! (point) in the rocky mountains ahead, there should be
a passage leading to kusumabura. when everyone has entered, I will guard
the outside... I'm leaving...... (jump on the tree above) prince ashura,
ryu-ou...... please be careful!

(the three are standing at the entrance of the city, they see a flag on the
broken door)

ryu-ou : look! the flag of the emperor's army! that means this land was
conquered!
yasha-ou : let's go down!
ryu-ou : wait for me!

(they run down a bunch of stairs, meanwhile, their images are shown in this
crystal that kumaraten is holding.)

kumaraten : you've finally come! ashura-ou's child. so? aren't you happy,
kara! to see the orphan of your old master.

(other than him, there's still two other people standing in the shadows)

kumaraten : not knowing he's about to be killed, running around so
carelessly!
kara (recognize her?) : though he is young, he is still "ashura-ou".
kumaraten...... do you really plan to challenge "ashura-ou"?
kumaraten (break the crystal in anger) : what's to be afraid of a kid!
(leaving) let's go, elder!
elder : where to? master.
kumaraten (evil smile) : though he is young, he's still the king of the
ashura clan, we need to welcome him with proper ceremony!
elder : understood! (they leave)
kara : ......

(yasha tachi reaches the underground city)

ashura : this place is...... the capital of blossoms, kusumabura?
ryu-ou : a destroyed city......

(they are looking at this completely dark, destroyed piece of ruined land)

ryu-ou : so dead--- yasha-ou, what are you looking for?
ashura (look around) : no one's here!
yasha-ou : a sword. it should be on the bottom level! [shura-tou!] (look
around) kujaku said that shura-tou is in the bottom level of the
underground city kusumabura. (reach the bottom level) but there's no other
path!

(they walk into a stone room, the old rocks starts to fall, and ryu-ou gets
hit.)

ryu-ou : ouch--- are you serious---
ashura (behind, looks around, something's wrong with the ground beneath
him) : w... what? (sinking into the ground) the ground...... why am I
sinking? (scared) YA... YASHA--!!
yasha-ou (inside the room, turn around) : ashura!?
ryu-ou : what's wrong? hey!
yasha-ou : ashura!! (runs out)
ashura (happy to see them) : yasha!!
ryu-ou : what's going on--!!
yasha-ou : I'm coming!

(but the stone rooms collapse around them, ashura and yasha gets
separated.)

ashura (reaching out a hand) : yasha--
yasha-ou : damn!! ASHURA--!!
ashura : YASHA--
yasha : ASHURA!!

(by the way, that ashura/yasha exchange just sounds really funny when I was
typing, or maybe I'm just high right now... anyway, they miss each other,
get blocked by the rocks, and ashura sinks even further)

ashura (last struggle) : ya... sha...

(completely gets pulled into the ground, yasha standing there helplessly.
banging on the rocks.)

yasha-ou : ashura, ashura! ASHURA--!! (knocks a little/big hole in the
ground with his pounding.) [was it taishaku-ten's men...]
ryu-ou (climb over the rocks) : yasha-ou!! you're bleeding...
yasha-ou (ignoring his own wounds) : [I was careless! this is not the
bottom level! could it be that underneath the ruins, there's more of
kusumabura? ashura---!!] (regret, regret)

(meanwhile, ashura is falling down in darkness, half dreamy I guess)

ashura : [who's calling me...... yasha? hn... no. it's...... a vibration
close to ashura. what is it? it's different from yasha. ...... but just
like yasha, it's a vibration that protects ashura......] (open eyes) hn...
where am I? ? (look up, see a bunch of rocks) [strange ceiling]
kumaraten : welcome to kusumabura! prince ashura. I am the master of
kusumabura-- king of the underground, kumaraten. I've been waiting a long
time for you, young ashura-ou.
ashura : ...kumara...
kumaraten : you have witnessed the ruins of kusumabura. one of tenkai's
most glorious cities in the past, the ever-spring flowers blooming, known
as the capital of blossoms... however... our clan was destroyed in the holy
war three hundred years ago by taishaku-ten's army! the remaining ruins is
less than one tenth of the original city. most of kusumabura, along with
millions of its people have sunken deep into the underground. people buried
alive, families killed by taishaku-ten's army, even a few days after, the
people barely alive are still cursing taishaku-ten's name. but with time,
even these sounds died, kusumabura disappeared forever! but that is not the
end, some still live deep down, waiting for the day of revenge. (grab
ashura) I will become tentei, defeat taishaku-ten and wash the blood of my
people.
ashura : let go of me!! (struggle) let me go back!
kuramaten : I won't let you go easily, because I need your power to awaken
shura-tou.
ashura : awaken... shura-tou?

(now he sees the sword frozen in that jell thingy on the other end of the
cave.)

kuramaten : that's right, the sword that only the ashura clan can wield, I
need that sword to defeat taishaku-ten. it's just sitting there like that
now, cocooned so no one can touch...... only with the blood of the ashura
prince, plus the power of the lunar eclipse seven days later, the shura-tou
can be revived. for the cause of defeating taishaku-ten, give me your
blood!
ashura : no!! you think you can beat taishaku-ten? yasha and I made a deal
that we will defeat him!! move, I said I want to go back!! (a little flare
in his hands)
kuramaten (puts out the flame easily) : hmph! playing fire with me? don't
be a smart-ass! (ashura running away) you won't get away! (energy blast)
ashura : ! AH! (the ground breaking around him, stones fly at him)
kara : watch out!! (covers ashura) Ashura-ou!!
kuramaten (stop attack) : !
ashura (surprised that kara protected him) : ......
kara : are you alright? ashura-ou.
kuramaten : stepping in to protect your master! kara, I'm surprised at your
loyalty. for the purpose of reviving shura-tou, don't get hurt, my
important sacrifice! (walk away)
kara (bow to ashura) : ashura-ou. don't worry! I will risk my life to
protect you. ......my lord.

(so while ashura's down there... yasha's sitting pretty lonely upstairs.
ryu-ou runs around the room)

ryu-ou : still no good! all sides have collapsed, there are no entrances!
but how come ashura fell down? was it a previously set trap?
kujaku : nope!
ryu-ou : who's there!? (alert)
kujaku (stepping out of the shadows) : nice to meet you! ryu-ou. my name is
kujaku, (big, cute smile) a wandering entertainer! you may call me ku-kun!
ryu-ou : how come everybody knows about me? are you also here to help
yasha-ou and protect ashura?
kujaku : [no! no!] nope! nope! I'm here to play with them!
yasha-ou (deadly serious) : where is the entrance to kusumabura's bottom
level? kujaku.
kujaku : only king kumaraten can open the entrance to kusumabura! don't
worry, ashura's fine right now! plus, he's the great "Ashura-ou"! if ashura
is the real ashura-ou, then he'll come back with shura-tou. yasha-ou, don't
worry about it, he has help! haven't you heard? lions would kick their own
cubs down a hill just to have them climb up again as a type of training.
ryu-ou (sweatdrop) : that's just abuse!

(kujaku and ryu-ou both have sweatdrops as yasha just sits there in silence
with his back to them.)

kujaku (whisper) : hey, yasha's so dead!
ryu-ou (whisper) : yeah! yeah! he looks like his wife ran away with another
guy.

(yasha turns around suddenly, jump up. kujaku and ryu-ou jumps back,
startled...)

ryu-ou : [you scared me!]
kujaku : [hey! hey! why do you always like to draw your sword?]
yasha-ou (drawing sword ^^;;) : [pursuers!?]
varuna (on the ouside) : yasha-ou, what are you doing in this ruined
mountain? what a idiot! (order his men) block off all the exits! I don't
want any of them to get away! I, subordinate of the west commander
koumokuten, Varuna, will destroy all the traitors!! [hehe!]
ryu-ou : footsteps! 49... no, 52!
kujaku (definitely enjoying this) : [hey!] tentei's army is here! (smile)
souma (appear suddenly) : yasha-ou! tentei's men.
yasha-ou : who's the commander?

(yasha doesn't answer, meanwhile, underground, ashura is captured and
locked in this balloon looking shield thingy...)

kara : ashura-ou, is there anything that you are not satisfied with?
ashura : there are many! let me go back to yasha now!
kara : please stay here a little longer, kara will bring you and shura-tou
back to where you were from!
ashura : [hmph!] you are a kusumabura, I don't trust you!
kara (look sad) : I ... am... I was ashura clan's ceremonial miko, I use to
serve ashura-ou.
ashura (surprised) : [ashura clan's...... miko!? other than myself, there's
still someone else alive from the ashura clan!] (happy, enthusiastic)
then... then you know about the stories of the ashura clan? tell me!!
kara (smile) : my lord, as you wish! ashura clan is a people who control
tenkai's light, illusion and fire. the ashura-ou with his 12 guardians
leads the shitennou and becomes the guardian warrior of tentei and tenkai.
the ashura city and tentei's city zenmijou is paired. just like the
reflection over the water. we live in that unbelievable water world. in
that world, only the ashura people and those who are authorized may enter.
ashura (very enthusiastic) : hey, kara, what's ashura's father like?
kara : ashura-ou is very kind, he's handsome and very strong. he's a very
great father!
ashura (blush) : then... then...
kara : what?
ashura : what about... ashura's mother? how is... my mother, kara?
kara (freeze) : your... mother... she's v... very smart, and
energetic...... (ashura's anticipating) she's good at everything......
she's my twin sister, named shashi. we were chosen to be ashura clan's
miko, every generation, the clan's miko were chosen from humans.
[shashi...... (flashback starts)] this is like a dream! to be chosen as

(the bird flies off, it's claws hooked on to the dress)

(blood, kara watches in shock as shashi just tears the bird apart, she
kneels in front of the blood pool, and shashi just leaves)

shashi : just clean it up for me!

(kara sobs, and returns from the flashback)

kara : soon after shashi and ashura-ou got married...... she was pregnant.
(ashura smile, and points to himself) that would be you! but, three hundred
years ago in the holy wars......

(back to another flashback... sometime during the war)

shashi : let's go, guardian beast Roh!
kara (running after her) : shashi! where are you going!? (shashi just
smiles) this is the worst time in tenkai, and you... as the queen, where do
you plan to go?
shashi : aren't you stupid, kara. if it wasn't for the time, do you think
my wish would be realized? (the beast appears through the water) I'm going
now!
kara (grab on to her) : no!! you can't go to taishakuten! you can't betray
tentei and the ashura clan.
shashi : so, you do know!
kara : if you really want to see him, promise me that this is the last
time. if the war continue like this, he won't win even in a few hundred
years!
shashi (smile) : that's right...... if it continues like this. but if he
has my help, he can control tenkai easily. (hold on to the beast) I know
everything-- ashura clan's weaknesses... their strength and power. it
doesn't have to be taishakuten! anyone who has ambition will do. (get on
the beast) to be the wife of tenkai's ruler is so much better than being
the wife of tenkai's guardian. (leaves on the beast)
kara (yelling after her) : wait! shashi! don't you love ashura-ou?
shashi : he never cared about me either, he just wants an heir. (fly away)
kara (running after her) : what are you going to do with the child? he is

(kara looks sad, back from the whole flashback)

elder (coming) : so that's where you are!

show! yasha-ou looks really mad. his eyes are so deadly, now the show's on!
yasha-ou (draw sword) : if you want the head of the northern guardian
warrior yasha-ou, then come and get it! but no one is going to touch
ashura!
varuna (and his men, actually, are all sweating) : [what's going on...]
d... don't be scared!! [I can't move! what aura!] (ryu-ou and souma watch
intensely)
kujaku : [that's...... the man with the title of the strongest among the
four guardian warriors of tenkai...... the power of the demon lord

(they fight, while ryu-ou takes out his big sword and souma has the flying
thingys)

ryu-ou : come! you little punks, you should be honored that I'm killing you
with ryuga-tou!!
soldiers : kid! that sword just looks good, it has no blade! what can you
cut with that thing! don't make me laugh!
ryu-ou : so it's not sharp? wanna try? don't start begging! let's go!
souma!! (attack) [HYAAA!] I'll take all of you on!

soldiers (all dying) : AHH!
ryu-ou : HAJA KAIRYU HA---!! (big slash)
soldiers (house falls apart) : Ahhhh
varuna (facing yasha) : all that crap about tenkai's strongest yasha clan!!

battles! I can't be a guardian warrior too! huh!? yasha-ou!! (yasha's not
listening to him at all, or at least no reacting) [now. I'll kill you!]
(attack) Sui-you-ken---!! (yasha blocks easily) [he blocked it single
handedly! how is that possible?

(yasha's counter attack throws varuna back a few feet)

yasha-ou : are you done with you attacks? how dare you insult my adopted
son and my clan. you're going to pay with your life! I'm not very
forgiving.
varuna : hmph! you are the worst king! everyone in tenkai knows that now!
you are the idiot who sacrificed your whole clan for that kid ashura! go to
hell with the kid!! I, suiten varuna, will send you there!
yasha-ou (really pissed, since he's suddenly so quiet) : ashura,
ashura......... you have no right to use that name! (big slash) MEIOU
HAYOUZAN-------!!!
varuna (cover himself) : Ahhhh! what the hell is this!

translator's note : if you pay attention, you will notice that there are
four commanders, and only three of them appears. zouchouten, koumokuten,
and bishamonten. the commander of the east jigokuten doesn't appear until
almost the ending. but clamp drops hints long before.
*HINT HINT* if you read closely, you might find some hints to jigokuten in
this volume, I won't tell you whether this character appears or not, but
there are definitely hints. maybe you can guess who it is way before vol
9... I figured out around vol 4 or something ^^

(the following scene is very funny... one of the 12 guardians had to dress
his horse up like a benz, basically, the triangular sign on the nose, add a
stirring wheel on the mane, and a sign around the neck which says benz. the
horse is not too happy, in fact, it looks kinda pissed)

shashi (getting a good laugh) : [HAHAHA that benz mark looks good!]
guardian A (apologizing to his horse) : sorry! sorry! norian! [sorry!
sorry! norian!]
hose (point to his nose) : [what's this?] (the benz mark)
guardian B (T.T) : last time my dear horse got marked as the jaguar!
guardian C (hugging his horse tightly) : marilyn! eh~~ I don't let this
happen to you. (T.T)
