Seraphic Feather Afternoon KC Morimoto You & Utatane Hiroyuki KC-78 Kodansha Publishing Disclaimer: This is meant for non-Japanese speaking Utatane Hiroyuki fans that have bought the Japanese manga. This is not meant as an infringement in ANY way towards Utatane-sensei, Kodansha Shouten, Afternoon, or anyone else that might own rights to this series. Also, I am not the best translator in the world, I'm still a student.. and translating things like this only help my learning progress. ^_^ In order to capture as much of the original text as possible, my translations are as literal as (I think) can be, while there was also a pantsload of effort into making it readable by an english speaking audience. Please enjoy and support Utatane-sensei in his endeavors. Dozo... --- Seraphic Feather Volume 1 - Act 5 Brought to you by Miharu of Sagara Productions miharu@niders.com http://niders.com/sagara/ P.173 Sunao: Ah, Attim M. Zak-san? The Town Touring Company dispatched me as your guide --- P.174 *smack* P.175 Attim: Guide-san.. Where will we be off to... Attim: *What am I doing ---* P.176 Sunao: .... I'm... sorry for... being late. Attim: !? P.177 Attim: I feel bad now. Attim: My friend feels.. Attim: different, apparently. P.178 Sunao: Oh no, it's okay. It's no big deal, it doesn't hurt at all. See.. Attim: Tee hee.. Attim: Is this the boy you've fallen for? P.179 Sunao: Um... Is Kei-san hurt? Attim: ? Ah, the tears right? She's just really cranky because she's hungry, some food will cure her easily, right Kei? Attim: That's so! She's so confused and can't hear me, we had better hurry up and get some food in her, right? Sunao: Ah, yes.. then. A small change in plans -- there's a good Chinese place around here. Attim: That's fine. Sunao: Let's go -- You know, Sunao: It's a first class Chinese place -- a hotel restaurant... P.180 Sunao: That isn't quite suitable.. Attim: ... I understand. I'll change clothes then. Attim: Let's get going. Kei: Kya! Man: Thank you very much for dealing with the threatening power, Terrorism Bureau Inspector. P.181 Man A: There goes the Bureau Inspector. Man B: Yes, Department Head. She's quite a beautiful person, huh.. Man A: Armament Bureau Inspector... Voice: Terrorism and the like are compared to a dark disturbance. Voice: Surely --- P.183 Sunao's voice: You know, it's a first class Chinese place -- a hotel restaurant... Man 1: Have that Chinese restaurant searched. Man 2: Even without Ricks-sama's report? Man 1 : Yeah, upper management entrusted me with Ricks's full authority in commanding for this base. Man 2: I'll obey you for the time being. P.185 Attim: Na! P.186 Attim: Even though we'll have to walk, the food's pretty good. Kei: If we would just ride to where we're going then my nice sightseeing clothes won't get dirty. Attim: Kei, you just fall when you're being watched. I usually do that about 11 times, myself. P.187 Kei: You shouldn't boast about such a thing! Attim: But Kei, you should be able to walk without having to worry about someone watching you. Kei: ---But Sunao: But.. you might say that 5 kilometers is a bit far.. Kei: Is it! Kei: It is, huh.. Sunao-kun. Kei: Seeeee.. Attim: I see how it is.. I rank under Kei. Kei: Heh hee Anyway, this apricot seed tofu in addition to seeing the stars.. just the place I want to go to.. Kei: In this dome it's just as if we weren't anywhere near them. Attim: Stars, huh... Sort of like that certain place? P.188 Sunao: Ehh.. I know but.. confirmed... Sunao: It... needs the card... Sunao: It's... it's lost!? P.189 Attim: You don't look so good, is something wrong? Sunao: ... Ah, no. It's nothing... Sunao: --- When... the Chief finds out about this.. However, how are we going to pay for this? P.190 Attim: -- Ah, don't worry about it. Since I'm from the UN, they can just electronically transfer funds from my account to here. Attim: I know that a guide's salary isn't much, financial hardships and all. It's only proper to split the price on the meals. Sunao: After the electronic payment.. right? Attim: Yep! It's okay.. hahaha. Don't worry about the balance, you didn't get to eat a whole lot. That reminds me.. Kei, why have you been so mysterious again today. You usually don't eat all that much. Kei: Humph, I beg to differ. I've always been like this! (laughter in background, probably Attim) Kei: Jeez, it was nothing but a joke, M. Zak-san. P.191 Attim: Kei, did you want to request some more apricot seed tofu? Kei: No, I don't. Attim: Wha? Just a little bit ago, you wanted to order more. Attim: Well then, I'll just ask for myself. Kei: --- Ah ---- Ah! I knew it, I'll ask too. Sunao: Oh jeez... Sunao: Her face is just too innocent -- with that blush. Sunao: But about the money. P.192 Sunao: My card's broken, I'll have to eat and run away without paying... no, that's unreasonable. Sunao: It's impossible to ask for a loan for my half from the guest-san..... Sunao: ....... Sunao: That's it, I'll just have to ask ... Sunao: I have to use the phone, I'll be right back. Attim: But isn't that a phone right there -- P.193 Kei: Manners, manners M. Zak-san! Kei: --- Right? Sunao: Um, ah.. yes. Excuse me... for just a moment. Sunao: Um, excuse me, but --- P.194 Man: We've been seen! Sunao: Is that.. a gun ---- Act 5 End Translation notes: Hey, I actually got this act out in a decent amount of time, yahoo! ^_^ Only one more act to go in this tankobon, then off to tankobon two! To break the little bit of monotony, I'm also going to be translating another manga series. I'm not quite sure what it will be, but it will most likely be something for a younger audience (easier to translate ^_^) so it's probably between Watase Yuu's 'Ayashi no Ceres' or CLAMP's X. (Yes, I -know- that Viz is releasing it, it's for my own practice, and for a better translation for fans that are interested.) If I could get my hands on a cheap few volumes of CLAMP's Card Captor Sakura, I would DEFINITELY translate that right this second. In fact, if some one would want to "sponsor" the translation of that manga, they could get in touch with me and perhaps send me however many tankobons of the manga, and then I'll translate them, and print out and send to them the translations. (This would be the Japanese pages with the text taken out, and English language lettered rather professionally in.) If you would like to see how I letter my translations, you can check out this link (http://niders.com/sagara/madskills/sf1.jpg) Okay, enough of that rambling.. I plan to translate the entire manga series (oh boy.. do I have a job ahead of me ^^;)... but I do have to warn you all that I'm rather slow at translating projects because I'm always translating so many things at once. After I get all of the first tankobon translated, I'll lump all of the translations together before I venture on to the second one. Also, I decided that my translations might be a little bit too literal for the average reader, so when I lump the translations, I'll edit them and make sort of a "Viz version", something that is easier for the beginning manga reader to understand, and I'll still have the literal (sort of) versions. Does that make any sense? ^^; Thanks to Zahara-chan, these translations will have a home. You can find her really great Seraphic Feather website here: http://www.swb.de/~zahara/uta/sfeather.html There's also lots and lots of Utatane info on there, so go check it out if you haven't already..
