A time where chaos and confusion plagued the heavens and earth..Humans and 
demons had lived in peace and coexisted amongst each other..
There was a whole belief and a culture..it was called "Tougenkyou 
(Shangri-la)"..

Goku: "...Hey Sanzo, are we there yet? I'm so hungry I can't move!!" [Hey~I 
said]
[Ow]
Sanzo: "Will you SHUT UP!!"
"shit..even if I killed you, you still wouldn't shut up"
Goku: "I'd recharge myself anyway"
Sanzo: "Don't be so proud of it"
Goku: "We could have had Hakkai pick us up with Jeep-"
Sanzo: "SHUT UP! We're almost there, WALK you stupid monkey!!"
Goku: "Still, why do you want to go see Gojyou and Hakkai so suddenly?"

"All the demons in the land suddenly went into rage...as well as losing their

"Now, the humans fear the demons, while living through the death and the 
adjoining terror faced daily....at just the name of Tougenkyou..brings the image 
of Hell in mind."
Sanzo: "What on earth lead to this?"
Sanbutsushin: "Do you know who 'Gyumaou' is?"
Gyumaou____500 years ago was the head Demon who was sealed by the war god, Crown 
Prince Nataku, in the palace of India. He refused to coexist with the humans, 
and in self-interest ate the humans.
Sanbutsushin: -"Someone is scheming the resurrection of Gyumaou"
Furthermore practicing the forbidden use of spells combining chemistry and black 
magic__
Goku: "Forbidden?..why?"
Sanzo: "Because we don't know what will happen."
From the start, chemistry and black magic were incompatible___
Relations with humans and demons were thought of as taboo.
All balance will be destroyed, a surge of minus energy would be created.
Sanbutsushin: "Genjo Sanzo, we command you to go to the western regions of China 
to the country of India along with your past associates- Goku, Gojyou, Hakkai"
The prevention of Gyumaou's resurrection...to bring back the egos of the demons, 
to restore Tougenkyou to normal.
Sanzo: "As you wish..!!"
Goku: "Lets see~, in other words, we go over there and stop the experimenting 
right? That's easy!!"
Sanzo: "You are..." *sigh*
Goku: "-So, what do you want to confirm with Gojyou and Hakkai?"
Sanzo: ".....! That is....."

are demons as well"
Sanbutsushin: "They are truly demons...but they are also human. That is why they 
are the only ones not effected by the minus energy....You, Sanzo should know 
that very well"
"It is such a cynical situation"
"You people are connected to one another, each by your tragic past scars"
"With their demon rivalry power and their mind and spirit, they're our last 
trump cards."
Sanzo: "Indeed, I recognize their efficiency, but as long as the blood of demon 
runs through their body, who knows when that blood will take over control. To 
trust those kind of people would be suicidal."
Sanbutsushin: "..It does in truth, it does in policy" "In reality it doesn't 
change."
Sanzo: "Graciously, the only person I trust in this world is myself" "Being only 
devoted to Buddhism teachings, wouldn't I be unworthy for this situation..."

Sanbutsushin: "Then Sanzo, you shall trust the eye of your heart"

"Prepare to set off by tomorrow morning, we're heading east. Dokugakuji, Yaone

Sanzo and co. is departing for the west as ordered" "The movement has started,

demons appearing around who can cause a mountain load of demon corpses. They 
fight their own kind although they don't hurt the humans."
Goku: "But that sounds just like its us-"
Gojyou: " AH sorry~ Just now there was a fly on your head." "Oh darn, it got 
away"

Hakkai: "Don't worry about it *heart*"
Houmei: "......?"
Sanzo: "By the way, how is the situation with the demons in this neighborhood?"
Father: "Nothing much now, before this city was living normally with the demons"
[But all of a sudden, one day they all disappeared, eating about 10 of the 
town's humans along with it.]
"We humans don't know what's happened"
Sanzo: The same has happened with this town.
Exactly what Sanbutsushin has said...this disaster has spread across Tougenkyou
The rampaging demons are bringing fear amongst humans, destroying the balance 
riding among them

Houmei: "Because they're eating the humans!? They're just monsters!"
"It was impossible for the humans and the demons to live together, the 
townspeople are saying so!"
Father: "Houmei!! Sorry about that, one of the victims that were eaten by the

of combining chemistry with black magic. 
That brings about an enormous amount of minus energy that spread consuming 
Tougenkyou.
"You chosen ones are decreed to stop the one who tries to revive Gyumaou"

Gyumaou____500 years ago was the Boss Demon who was sealed by the war god, Crown 
Prince Nataku, in the palace of India. He refused to coexist with the humans, in 
self-interest ate the humans.
"Everything is in India, go head off to the west immediately, Genjo Sanzo"
Sanzo: "As you command!!"
Sanbutsushin: "One last thing__"
"Along with the resurrection of Gyumaou, your 'master's momento' you were 
searching for,Seiten kyoumon(sutras), is also there."
Sanzo: I have the hidden power to break the 'dark' using the Maten kyoumon and 
my master, Koumyou Sanzo, possessed the Seiten kyoumon, which brings forth 
'light.'

Youryoku controllers"

Goku: "Hey, How much further are we walking!"
Hakkai: "Since Jeep cannot venture on this rocky terrain..."
Goku: "Hey can't you change into a jeep Hakuryuu!!"
Gojyou: "Teacher~, an animal is mistreating another animal."
Sanzo: "At this rate, it will be sunset before we cross this mountain."
Hakkai: "Lets lodge over night then."
Gojyou: "woa, what an over exaggerated-looking temple."

Monk: "What do you want?"
Hakkai: "We are travelers around here, could we stay over tonight?
Monk: "hmph, because this is a holy temple, we cannot invite those who do not 
take heed of our history."

Hakkai: "We're in trouble."

According to Buddist belief, its considered the highest and most respected rank 
among monks.
Gojyou: "How could that godless, in-compassionate, hot-blooded monk become 
'Sanzo'?"
Hakkai: "I can't help you there..."
Priest: "Honestly speaking, Priest Koumyou Sanzo had also visited our temple 
about ten-odd years ago."

"Genjo-sama looks very similar to him."
Sanzo: "........"
Priest: After Koumyou Sanzo past away, we have heard your gracious, his favorite 
pupil, has taken over as 'Genjo Sanzo'"

vulgar person cannot even lean on the temple. It must be through our strong 
religious faith.
Goku: "Then you don't carry any kind of weapons?"
Yow: "that's because killing goes against Buddha's teachings."
Gojyou: "shit, happy-go-lucky bastards"
Hakkai: "...well concerning what's just been said, we definitely cannot lodge 
here for too long."
Yow: "?"
Goku: "Beef_"

"I was hoping that they'd send us beauties as service like they did last time."

extremely twisted personalities."

Saiyuki Character Introduction

Son Goku

The energetic little monkey. An entity which was born out of a rock from the 
earth's aura. Because of the fact that eating and playing are the only things in 
his mind, he doesn't seem to have room in his brain for deep thought or anything 
complicated. During his childhood, he was confined in a rock prison without 
aging as punishment of a major crime commited 500 years ago. This crowned 
character is the mascot in the group out of the four. He plays around with 
Gojyou daily, gets beaten up by Sanzo, and cared for by Hakkai. A wholesome, 
healthy child of 18 years old. Height of 162 cm. His main weapon is the Nyoibou 
that can separate into 3 sections. His eye color is gold.

Genjo Sanzo

The brutal, corrupt priest. He's a heavy drinker. He smokes cigarettes. He 
enjoys gambling, and on top of that he carries a loaded gun. Its hard to believe 
that this dangerous character is a man of religion, of Buddhism. He was raised 
by the former Sanzo Priest, who was killed by a demon, and is seeking for his 
master's momento. Although he seems to be self-centered, haughty, and not all 
that sane, he is a good-looking 23 year old, with both coolness and charisma. 
Apparently, his favorite phrases are "Die" or "I'll kill you". His weapons are 
the "Maten kyoumon", a small gun and a paper fan. He's 177 cm in height. He has 
droopy, purple colored eyes.

Sha Gojyou

The perverted gappa [sea serpent]. Rude and rough in speech, at first glance it 
appears he might have a good side. He's an older brother type that relies on his 
friends for entertainment. Goku is his fighting partner, Hakkai is his best 
friend, and Sanzo is his bad companion (laughes). His weak-point is his bad love 
affairs with women. …lately he seems to be searching for a certain person while 
travelling. For some reason he appears human without the help of controllers. 
His favorite weapon is a sickle and chain attached to a staff, which he can 
fight numerous opponents with. He's 184 cm in height. His hair and eyes are 
scarlet in color. He is a heavy smoker at age 22.

Cho Hakkai

The Happy-go-lucky older brother. A young man that always show a gentle, smiling 
face. One cannot tell if he's serious or not, he uses his smile and humorous wit 
to make fun of his companions. That ever smiling face rarely shows a dark 
serious one, like that of a sharpened edge, which he hides the pain of his dark 
past. He is the owner and driver of Jeep. His weapons during battle is "Kikou 
jyutsu" [manipulation of his energy] and his smile(laughes), Age 22. He's 181 cm 
in height. He has deep green colored eyes (his right eye is almost blind). In 
his left ear are Youriyoku controller cuffs.
