Comments: This is the eighth chapter in what I am [ME] calling the "Spring
          of Life" storyline.   The numbers (nn.pp) before the dialogue 
          are the page number then panel number. Page numbers are from the
          compilation as from version 1.1  Scene setting comments are in 
          <.>  Although this Shonen Sunday looks like a double issue it is
          a normal one...

85         <Splash Page of Ranma-chan and bottle of sake>
            [Orochi is angry!]
            Alcohol and Orochi and Men and Women!!
            (Words behind Ranma in the background are: "Alcohol", "Women".)


86    <Down the side, not in compilation>
      Narration:  A gleam of hope to be able to help Shinnosuke is the 
                  Orochi Moss where the Orochi comes out... and it likes 
                  alcohol and women, that's the beginning of the (military)
                  operation!!

86.1  <The mouth of the cave of the Orochi>
      Sign: *DANGEROUS*  The source of life.

86.2  <The surface of the water in the cave>

86.3  <The Orochi in its cave>
      Narration:  The Orochi was bad-tempered.
                  It has a nasty presentiment.
                  That was the intuition of wild nature.


87.1  <In the lair, rising bubbles>
      Narration:  Something ominous offending itself is approaching.

87.2  <Outside Shinnosuke's house>

87.3  <Akane>
      Akane:      I can be a lure (decoy).
                  Doesn't the Orochi like alcohol and women?

87.4  <Akane, Shinnosuke, Ojii-san around the fire>
      Ojii-san:   Don't say it as simple as that.
                  If you become the lure, you'll be eaten by it.
      Akane:      But, isn't there only me (who is a girl)?

87.5  <Outside Ranma is leaning over the edge of the roof looking in>
      <the window, he is startled by the exchange!                  >


88.1  <Ranma is pulled back up by his ponytail by...>
      Ryouga:     Hey!

88.2  <Close up of Ranma and Ryouga>
      Ryouga:     Isn't there only you?
      Ranma:      What is that..?

88.3  <Another close up of the two>
      Ryouga:     Turn into a woman, and die for Akane's sake!
      Ranma:      "ke" 
      (something like "che", dictionary says "tut" or "shucks")

88.4  <Close up Ryouga>
      Ryouga:     In fact, you were rejected by Akane.

88.5  <A dismayed Ranma>

88.6  <Ryouga has a flash back of him watching Akane cry over the sleeping>
      <form of Shinnosuke, Ranma isn't coping with this at all well...    >
      Ryouga:     I've been watching all though, and dare to make an 
                  assertion, that Akane fell in love with Shinnosuke.

89.1  <Ryouga is looking towards the heavens with a faraway look in his>
      <eye, he on the other hand has adapted very well...>
      Ryouga:     I'll protect Akane.
                  I understand I'm definitely rejected, 
                  but I love her without regret.

89.2  <Ranma looks around at Ryouga>
      Ranma:      Ryouga...

89.3  <Back to Ryouga>
      Ryouga:     I don't mind being rejected.

89.4  <Ranma looks away>
      Ranma:      ....

89.5  <The two are now sitting on the roof looking away from each other>
      Ryouga:     I don't mind, oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh .... (crying)
      <Maybe he isn't coping that well... :-) >
      Ranma:      ....

89.6  Ranma:      I cannot stay calm!


90.1 <Outside the house>
      Ranma:      Risking your life for another man, 
                  I won't allow you to do that, Akane!

90.2 <He bursts through the door, dramatic pose and...>
      Ranma:      Let me fight against the Orochi!!

90.3 <Ojii-san and Shinnosuke look around at the interruption>


91.1  <There is only Shinnosuke and Ojii-san inside!>

91.2  Ranma:      What happened to Akane?

91.3  <Wind in the trees>

91.4  <Akane keeper's brush in hand is wandering through the forest>
      Shinnosuke 
      & Ojii-san: We all relied on you, Akane.
                  Going to the Orochi-moss and take back the source of
                  the water of life.

91.5  <A view of outside the house>
      Ryouga: You made Akane go alone???!

91.6  <Back inside, a battered Ojii-san and an upset Ryouga>
      Ojii-san:   It is not the time for splitting amongst friends!
      Ryouga:     Who are friends?  WHO?


92.1  <Ranma mallets Ryouga>

92.2  Ranma:      Looks like there is some kind of fighting operation 
                  planned, grandfather.

92.3  Ranma:      Well... though I haven't heard of it. 
                  I could imagine roughly about it.

92.4  <Shinnosuke starts to prepare for action>
      Shinnosuke: It is a perfect operation!
      Shinnosuke: I cannot leave Akane in danger.

92.5  <Close up of Shinnosuke>
      Shinnosuke: Hey, you.

92.6  <Ranma returns the glare>


93.1  <Shinnosuke bows to a startled Ranma>
      Shinnosuke: I'm Shinnosuke.  Nice to meet you.
      Ojii-san:   My grandson is really severely absent-minded.

93.2  <Wind in the trees>

93.3  <Akane in the forest>
      Akane:      What happened?
      Akane:      The forest is unusually quiet.

93.4  <Passing by her feet>
93.5  <Akane spots...     >
      Akane:      Platypus...!?

93.6 <Flash back to Shinnosuke and the giant platypus>
      Akane:      That huge platypus has become small... 
                  It's because the supply of the water of life was cut off!!

93.7 <A worried Akane speeds up>
      Akane:      If I don't hurry, Shinnosuke's life will also...


94.1 <The Orochi is seen heading up from its lair>
      Narration:  Orochi's ominous presentiment became stronger 
                  and stronger.  The "enemy" will be coming soon.

94-5  <Boy oh boy, you have to see this to believe it :-)  >
      <Dressed as women and boy are they un-cute :-)       >
      Ojii-san:   Now, be convinced that we are women! Come out and eat us!!

95.2  <A head of the Orochi and it is mad...>

96-97 <Exploding out of its lair comes the Orochi>
      Narration:  Orochi is enraged.  It is inevitable!!

96.2  <Ojii-san in his outfit>
      Ojii-san:   Ha ha ha... Plenty of your favourite, alcohol and women!
            [Box: a bride]

96.3  <Ryouga is having problems coping with his outfit>
      Ryouga:     If I'm seen by Akane in this outfit, I'll die!!
            [Box: a nurse]

97.2  <Ranma and Shinnosuke on the other hand...>
      Ranma:      Each of us will kill two heads, let's go!!
            [Box pointing to Ranma: Girl Student]
            [Box pointing to Shinnosuke: Police-woman]
      <BTW Ranma is still in his *male* form....>


98.1  <Akane is on the hillside over looking the battle>
      Akane:      It's started.

98.2  <Jumping into action>
      Akane:      Now, the moss in it's home.

98.3  <On the back of the Orochi>

98.4  <Ojii-san is distracted by Akane and thinks...>
      Ojii-san:   Akane, no matter how the other sees you, you are an 
                  excellent boy. No need to worry that you'll be eaten 
                  by Orochi.

99.1  <Of course that's a big mistake to make in a battle and >
      <he pays for it... in the mouth of the Orochi...        >
      Akane:      Grandfather!!

99.2  <Still in the mouth>
      Ojii-san:   Ha ha ha ha ha ha, it's allright Akane.
                  Dressing as a woman was just to distract Orochi.  
                  It won't eat men!

99.3  <The Orochi lets lose with flame and its toasted "bride">
      Ojii-san:   Yah...
      Shinnosuke: Grandfather!

99.4  <All the heads are flaming now...  >
      Ranma:      Doesn't look like it wants to eat... but
      Ryouga:     Looks like it wants to kill!

100.1 <Meanwhile Akane is looking...>
      Akane:      Moss... is not anywhere!!

100.2 <Akane thinking>
      Akane:      It's strange... 
                  this Orochi, no matter how many times you count

100.3 <The orochi in full fight...>
      Akane:      It only has seven heads!!

      Narration:  The angry Orochi... is missing one head!
